Instructional Programs: Fall 2009

Instructional Programs present a fun and challenging alternative to your traditional fitness routine. Offered are a variety of comprehensive fitness classes and educational workshops for the beginning exerciser up to the more advanced participant. Each program allows participants to learn a new activity or sport in a noncompetitive environment.

Additional fees and registration are required to participate. Instructional Programs are available by appointment.

Fitness Instructor Training Fall 2009*REGISTER TODAY*
The University of Nevada - Las Vegas Campus Recreational Service Fitness Instructor Training (F.I.T.) course combines lecture and practical application to cover the basics of personal fitness training and group fitness instruction during a 12-week period. This course is great for individuals interested in working for the University fitness program, preparing to take a nationally recognized fitness certification, or beginning a career in the fitness industry. Students will be introduced to: Basic anatomy and kinesiology, program design and exercise prescription, conducting fitness assessments, musical awareness, class formatting, exercise selection, choreography, and injury prevention.Registration takes place at the Service Desk located in the Student Recreation and Wellness Center for a fee of $49.00 *manual included

Women on Weights
Have you ever wanted to incorporate weight training into your workout program but feel uncomfortable in the weight room? Here is your chance to learn the benefits of strength training, set up a program and learn proper form and technique. This class will improve participants muscular strength and conditioning in a safe and comfortable environment. If interested in this program, please contact the Program Coordinator, Jessica-Kate Ketz 702.774.7120 for more information. Previous experience in the subject matter is recommended but not required

Fit for Hire:
Enjoy your own private group exercise class or personal fitness training session for a minimal fee. Campus Recreational Services will provide you and a group of your friends, team, residence hall, or colleagues with a certified group exercise instructor or personal fitness trainer for a customized workout session, and a great time!
